Understanding the challenges of construction demolition waste management towards circular construction: Kuwait Stakeholder’s perspective

The built environment sector is under increasing pressure to reduce costs while improving environmental quality. This paper examines Kuwait’s current construction and demolition waste (CDW) management policy, highlights the obstacles faced by recycling processes suggests solutions enhance practices. Kuwait has only one landfill dedicated exclusively CDW, operating since 2009. Even though facilities handling faces several that hinder its efficacy. study aims identify impediments efficient practices through an extensive review of literature followed a questionnaire was sent 42 relevant stakeholders interviews conducted with five from 1) Municipality Kuwait, 2) Ministry Public Works, 3) Environmental Authority, 4) Institute for Scientific Research, 5) Environment Preservation Industrial Company. concluded present procedures are inappropriate achieving circular concept 4 R framework (reduce, reuse, recycle recover). Furthermore, it found raising awareness public about benefits essential. can be successfully implemented emphasising recyclable products' economic financial benefits. There also need enforce existing legislation regulations achieve better CDW control framework. outcomes this will assist decision-makers in establishing strategies address barriers beyond.
